Cambodia and Thailand to Strengthen Tourism Cooperation at 3rd Ministerial Meeting

Phnom Penh: From July 17-18, 2024, Minister of Tourism Sok Soken is leading a delegation from Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism at the 3rd Cambodia-Thailand Ministerial Meeting on Bilateral Tourism Cooperation in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand. This participation follows an invitation from Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand Sermsak Pongpanit.

The 3rd Ministerial Meeting aims to reinforce the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Tourism Cooperation, signed between Cambodia and Thailand in 2014. The meeting is focusing on several key agenda items: (1) discussing, exchanging, and sharing views on tourism development in both countries, (2) updating the Joint Action Plan on Tourism Cooperation 2023-2025, and (3) adopting a Joint Statement to enhance bilateral tourism cooperation and set new directions as recommended by the Heads of Government of both countries.

In addition, there will be a bilateral meeting between the Cambodia Tourism Marketing and Promotion Board (CTB) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). This meeting aims to promote collaboration and private sector participation, leading to the creation of a joint action program to boost tourist flows between the two countries and attract more international tourists. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Tourism's strategic initiative "BUILD + 3Ds," which seeks to expand opportunities and promote Cambodia's tourism potential regionally and globally.

As part of the event, Minister Sok Soken received an invitation to a lunch hosted by Dr. Phonpoom Vipattipumiprates, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, and attended a welcome dinner hosted by Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand Sermsak Pongpanit. The dinner marked a warm welcome for the Cambodian delegation ahead of the official discussions on July 18, 2024.
